Mama Hen is making soup and takes out 4 carrots.

Then the chick picks 5 new carrots in the garden and puts them in the basket.

## Answer and working

There are 11 carrots! Because 10 minus 4 is 6, and 6 plus 5 is 11.

`10 − 4 + 5 = 11`
