## Read the story

Tom is 3 years older than Lisa. Together they are 21 years old.

First we take away the 3 years: 21 minus 3 is 18.

Then we share fairly: 18 divided by 2 is 9. Lisa is 9, Tom is 12.

**Mia is 4 years older than Ben. Together they are 20. How old is Ben?**

Correct! 20 minus 4 is 16, divided by 2 is 8. Ben is 8.
