Which fraction describes the shaded share?

Read the bar in two steps

First count all equal parts in the bar. This is the denominator. Then count the shaded parts. This is the numerator. For example, two shaded parts in a bar of three equal parts show two thirds.

Check the whole

The whole bar is always one whole, even when the number of divisions changes. Two shaded parts out of four show two fourths, not two wholes. Choose one of the three fractions and check your answer before moving on.
