Choose addition or subtraction
Each worksheet contains twenty equations with one missing operand. The blank alternates between the left and right side, so children read the whole equation instead of repeating one visual pattern.
For □ + 5 = 12, ask what joins 5 to make 12: the blank is 7. For 15 − □ = 9, ask what was taken away: the blank is 6. The two sheets practise different questions about an unknown, so choose the one that matches the child’s current work.
Print questions or include the answers
Print the student page by itself or show the answer key first to add a separate checking page. The matching online activities use the same complete arithmetic facts and missing positions.
