Every word problem asks three things of a child: understand the question, choose the calculation and answer in a full sentence. These worksheets practice exactly that, with problems that grow step by step: one step, two steps, estimating, crossing out extra facts and working backwards.
How the worksheets work
Each worksheet has two A4 pages: a short example, five tasks, a brain teaser and one large task. Page 2 has all the answers and a note for parents and teachers.
