Count the objects and enter how many you see.
Begin by counting visible objects and matching each group to its numeral. A number line then gives those values a position: moving forward adds, and moving backward subtracts. When those ideas feel familiar, work with sums and differences up to 20.
Choose one short online practice session first. If a child needs to see the quantities, return to counting or the number line before repeating a fact. Print a worksheet for quiet pencil work, then check the separate answer key together. A wrong answer is a clue about the strategy to revisit, not a reason to speed up.
