Multiplication

Multiplication practice with a pattern you can see.

Multiplication describes equal groups. Begin with one clear example, then choose the 2, 5, 7, or 10 times table.

One multiplication fact

7 × 4 =28

Practise multiplication

Multiplication means equal groups

If four bags each hold seven counters, there are four equal groups of seven. Multiplication gives us a short way to describe and solve that situation.

Build recall from understanding

Look for the group size first. Then connect each new fact to one you already know. Regular short practice helps useful facts come to mind with less effort.

Choose the 2 times table to work with doubles, the 5 times table to use its result pattern, the 7 times table to strengthen recall, or the 10 times table to think in groups of ten.
