Long Multiplication Worksheet
Two A4 pages: multi-digit multiplication by one- and two-digit numbers on a grid, estimating, finding mistakes and an answer key.
What is on the worksheet?
The example at the top shows how to start on the right, multiply each digit and carry to the next place. Task 1 multiplies three-digit numbers by a one-digit number. Task 2 multiplies by a two-digit number: two partial products, then add them. In task 3 your child rounds to the nearest hundred and estimates in their head before calculating. Task 4 has worked problems with mistakes to find and fix, and task 5 has two word problems. A brain teaser with a missing digit and three larger problems to set up in columns finish page 1. Page 2 has all the answers.
Every problem sits on a grid, so each digit has its own square and the places stay lined up.
Who is it for?
Grade 4, when multi-digit multiplication is introduced or practiced. Your child should know the times tables up to 10.
How to use it
Start with the estimate: it shows quickly whether an answer can be right. Then multiply on the grid and compare the result with the estimate.
